Flying
to Denali (Mt. McKinley) is our number one choice for tour options in Alaska!
You will see another world in the Alaska Range; words cannot quite do it
justice… It's something you must experience to really appreciate.
Talkeetna is only 60 miles from the summit of Denali, so it is the premier
airport for McKinley Scenic Flight Tours. Advance reservations are highly recommended as seats do sell out quickly
in the summer. Reservations will be confirmed with a credit card deposit of
$50.00 per person, fully refundable if
the weather prevents flying.
|
| Takes you into the
heart of the Alaska Range. Focusing
on the south side of the mountains you will fly over the Ruth Glacier, thru the
Great Gorge, past cascading ice falls and granite peaks to the Don Sheldon Amphitheater.
Fly by the south east face of Mt. McKinley. Your pilot will narrate as you
fly, pointing out wildlife and geological interests. |
| Includes all of
tour number one, plus you will fly deeper into the park, over to the Kahiltna
Glacier (the longest glacier in the Alaska Range).
You will see the famous base camp where Denali climbers stage their
ascent, and possibly even see a team of climbers heading up to the summit via
the “west buttress route”. You
will also fly between the other two largest peaks in the Range: Mt.
Foraker and Mt. Hunter.
|
| The Grandest of
All tours! Includes all of tours 1
and 2, plus you will traverse over to the north side of the range and do an
"up close and personal" circle of Mt.
McKinley. You will fly right
past the “Wickersham Wall”, the largest continual vertical rise in the world
at over 14,000 feet.

Add
a glacier landing to any of the above flights and experience the excitement of landing
near Denali in the Alaska Range!
It makes you feel very small when you stand on the snow beneath the great
peaks. Bring lots of film, this is
an excellent photo opportunity! (Please note that glacier landings are dependent on the season and weather.)
*As of 2005, a Denali National Park Pass is required to land on a glacier
in the Park. A 7-day pass costs $10 per person, or $20 per
family. Passes will be sold at all of Talkeetna's Air
Services. You can also use your pass to enter Denali National Park's
main entrance 3-hours-drive north of Talkeetna, and likewise, if you've
already purchased a pass before coming to Talkeetna, it will be valid for
a glacier landing as long as you fly within seven day of purchase.
Annual Park Pass will also be accepted.
